iCS (Institut Clinique de la Souris), part of the IMPC, were very early adopters of the Labstamp tail tattoo, following their assessment of the technology in 2013 and reported in their presentation to the Infrafrontier conference in Athens, below.
Following a rigorous analysis of the method, the iCS team concluded that the tattoo was permanent and legible and did not negatively impact key phenotypical tests.
A key requirement for iCS was that their end customers could easily and reliably read the mouse ID, when receiving mice from iCS. As the report concluded: "Users love it!"
